Movie Nights, ReimaginedA Cinema Room to Sink Into
Designed as one of the most-loved spaces in the home, this bespoke cinema room was created to feel cosy, intimate, and effortlessly indulgent for the whole family.
Inspired by classic retro cinemas, the layout centres on comfort with a sense of theatre. A raised rear sofa anchors the room, with integrated strip lighting inlaid into the carpet to form softly illuminated steps. At the back, a bespoke drinks and popcorn station adds a playful yet practical touch.
Colour-drenched walls and darker, moodier materials create a cocooning atmosphere, while deep sofas and bespoke porcelain coffee tables introduce comfort and refinement. The result is a luxurious, welcoming space designed for relaxed family evenings and memorable movie nights.
Designer Comment
Throughout the Ilkley project, we focused on creating subtle connections between each space. In the cinema room, details such as the bespoke porcelain tables echo the finishes used in the nearby powder room, while hints of antique brass mesh, first introduced in the kitchen, reappear within the drawers beneath the projector screen. The timber stain used throughout the house also flows seamlessly into this space, ensuring the room feels cohesive while still having its own distinct identity.
