We have paired up with our good friends, Dan & Hayley Wallis at the Cross Keys in Stow to bring you inspiring recipes which can be practiced at home with the children whilst self isolating. This is the perfect time to practice our favourite recipes, starting with this delicious Dark Chocolate Tart served with Orange Mascarpone.
Dark Chocolate Tart, Orange Mascarpone
Serves 12
Ingredients
For the filling
400ml Double Cream
370g Dark Chocolate
85g Butter
25g Honey
For the Chocolate Sweet Pastry (in the food processor)
90g Butter
65g Caster Sugar
3 x Egg Yolks Only
185g Plain Flour
15g Cocoa Powder
Method
For the Sweet Pastry
Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the egg Yolks and mix. Add the Flour and Cocoa Powder to form the dough and leave to rest in the fridge for 30 minutes
Roll out onto a floured surface then place carefully into your flan tin, rest in the fridge for about 15 minutes, line the tart with baking parchment and fill with baking beans, bake for about 20 minutes at 170c then remove parchment and beans, then return to the oven and bake for about another 6-8 minutes until the pastry is cooked, allow to cool, once cool brush with melted chocolate, this is now ready for the filling.
For the Chocolate Filling
Bring the cream to the boil. Pour the cream over the chocolate, butter and honey until it has melted. Mix well, pour into Chocolate tart, leave to set
For the Orange Mascarpone
Simply use the zest of one orange and mix with the mascarpone and add a little icing sugar to taste, quenelle or ball a small amount on top of the tart and serve
