Like any room in your house, creating a bespoke designer kitchen can be daunting, and if you are new to the process then you might not know where to start. As kitchen designers, the team at Krantz Designs are here to help you with with the process, from start to finish, whilst answering any questions you have.
In this blog we are going to discuss the full journey, from the style, colours, materials and installation.
Of course, how you want your kitchen to look is a very personal choice. If you are unsure on your dream kitchen style then we recommend having a look for inspiration. This can come in the form of collecting images from magazines, using Pinterest or even finding inspiration from Facebook & Instagram which is becoming even more popular.
The brilliant thing about these pages is that it can really help to bring your ideas to life.
With this said, it is also important to stay true to your own likes and dislikes. It is very easy to love everything you see so we recommend creating a design style that suits your lifestyle, your requirements and your home.
Being able to decide on the exact style of kitchen that you want is one of the best things about working with a bespoke kitchen designer like us at Krantz Designs. You have the ability to create your own space from scratch. We often support our customers to build the perfect kitchen, this can mean extensions, cellars and even custom builds.
Not only do you need to think about the style when it comes to the colours of your kitchen, you also need to think about the space and making sure you are catering for every occasion.
Something that we commonly recommend to our customers is creating three zones; one for cooking, eating and entertaining. These are the three biggest requirements from your kitchen.
Once you have decided on your style, or even if you just have a couple of ideas, we take this time to look at it with you. With a rough idea of what you want and sometimes just a quick chat we can run through some recommendations that we may have.
Our design team at Krantz Designs love to talk about colour schemes, it’s one of the many areas that we are passionate about. Like the style, it is important to showcase your own personal style with the colour scheme, think of whether you are going to have a colour continuity flowing throughout your home, or are you going to go for a bold statement for your kitchen?
In our opinion, we would always lean towards choosing a shade with warm undertones such as “Purbeck Stone”, “Cornforth White” or “Pavilion Grey” from Farrow & Ball. The benefit of having neutral colours is they will really illuminate a room with natural light and can be easily complimented by an accent colour in the soft furnishings.
Choosing what materials you would like for your kitchen can be a difficult task as there are so many to choose from. It is often a decision that is left until later on in your kitchen design journey however we recommend considering it in the early stages. You can decide on what materials you would like your cabinets to be, worktops and even cabinet hardware, like handles.
We have worked with some unique requests in the past and will be able to work with you to find the perfect material for your home.
Another one of our passions is wood and we love to introduce accents of exposed timber into our kitchens, you can see examples of this from the previous projects that we have worked on. The addition of solid wood can instantly add warmth to your kitchen and works beautifully in contrast with dark cabinet doors.
Unlike the standard kitchen experience, when you choose a bespoke kitchen with Krantz Designs, we work tirelessly to support you to decide the style of kitchen you want. We will then work to design the kitchen to fit your needs. Our experienced team of dedicated carpenters continue this journey to install the kitchen. This entire process is overseen by our excellent team of designers, who are on hand at every stage of your project.
Throughout the whole process we are here to help, we like to plan in meetings to go through the different phases of your project. We will have regular communication with you at the start to go through your ideas, this allows us time to provide you with 3D versions of what your design will look like. To make your dream kitchen become more of a reality.
